POSITION 1:  RELIEF WORKER

Job Title:          Relief Worker
Status:              Non-exempt/Hourly
Program:          Residential
Location:          Men’s Community Residence and Women’s Intensive Residence
Shift:                Could include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as specified
Report to:
         Program Director of Community Residences  

  • Description:  Provide services to persons adversely affected by chemical abuse or dependency in a residential setting        
  • Maintain a safe environment
  • Ensure the welfare of the clients
  • Meet with staff at change of shift to get direction for the shift
  • Engage residents in the use of Independent Living Skill activities
  • Supervise residents in chores and responsibilities
  • Supervise residents in meal prep, at meals, and at clean   
  • Manage supplies and consumables in the house
  • Safeguard and monitor all residents’ medication and valuables at the direction of the counseling staff
  • Transport residents as needed
  • Ensure the delivery of prompt medical attention in cases of illness or accident, report any such incidents to the Program Director, complete incident reports and documentation as required
  • Utilize the On-Call system as needed
  • Be available to residents for support, encouragement and direction when needed
  • Perform and document monthly fire drills
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services and conferences/trainings as assigned
  • Conduct regular house and bed checks if working at night
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which could include but may not be limited to: 
                o        Cleaning
                o        Filing
                o        Copying
                o        Baking/cooking
                o        Snow removal from emergency exits at all times  

Minimum Job Qualifications: 
High School Diploma AND support the goal of abstinence from mood altering substances unless prescribed by a physician knowledgeable of addiction AND must subscribe to a Professional Canon of Ethics.

POSITION 2:  RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR / Recreational activities coordinator

Job Title:          Residential Counselor / Recreational Activities Coordinator

Status:              Non-exempt/Hourly

Program:          Residential

Location:          Residential Rehabilitation Services for Youth program (RRSY)

Shift:                 Could include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as specified

Report to:         Program Director of RRSY

 

Description:  Provide a full array of individual, group and rehabilitative services to persons adversely affected by chemical abuse or dependency in a residential setting.

  • maintain basic knowledge of the physical plant
  • exercise knowledge of and teach good nutrition, good physical and mental health practices
  • engage residents in the development of a full range of Independent Living Skill activities
  • supervise and participate with residents during recreational, vocational and educational activities
  • supervise residents in performance and completion of daily chores and responsibilities; develop a schedule of house keeping activities
  • maintain and demonstrate cooking and baking skills, and supervise residents in cooking chores
  • shop for food and consumables as needed and assigned
  • manage the petty cash, food stamps, and stamp money responsibly
  • maintain program within the established budget
  • manage supplies and consumables in the house
  • safeguard and monitor all residents’ medication and valuables
  • transport residents to appointments and activities as needed
  • ensure the delivery of prompt medical attention in cases of illness or accident, report any such incidents to the Program Director, complete untoward incident reports and documentation as required
  • utilize the On-call system as needed
  • refer emergency calls and clients to the appropriate community agencies
  • provide and facilitate groups and morning discussions as assigned
  • be available to residents for support, encouragement and direction when needed
  • be sensitive and responsive to public relations within the community
  • assist Program Director when needed in:
    • orientation of staff members 
    • screening of candidates for residency
    • orientation of new residents
    • evaluation of residents’ needs
    • exit interviews
  • responsible for building safety to include:
    • inspection of fire system
    • maintaining fire extinguishers
    • performing and documenting monthly fire drills
  • participate in clinical supervision at least bi-weekly
  • participate in regular Resident Reviews
  • attend staff meetings, in-services and conferences/trainings as assigned
  • responsible for quality assurance
  • carry a caseload of up to 5 primary clients
  • provide Treatment Plans on a quarterly basis, and other documentation as needed
  • maintain contact and correspondence with clients’ legal agencies
  • maintain client files in accordance with OASAS relations
  • provide at least weekly individual counseling sessions to primary clients
  • perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Job Qualifications: 

One year experience in the field of Chemical Dependence/college graduate AND support the goal of abstinence from mood altering substances unless prescribed by a physician knowledgeable of addiction AND must subscribe to a Professional Canon of Ethics.  Specific training and/or education in fitness preferred.
