Residential Services

Residential Rehabilitation Services for Youth
As of November 1, 2007, the Farm was converted to a new model referred to as “Residential Rehabilitation Services for Youth” under New York State OASAS regulations. This model will allow us to provide more comprehensive services than ever before with the addition of a Medical Director, a Licensed Master Social Worker, Family Therapist, Registered  Nurse, Community Support Specialist and more. These positions are possible because under this model, we are eligible to be reimbursed by Medicaid. Though much of our programming will remain the same, the additional staff and specialized services available under this model will enable us to enhance treatment at “the farm” in an environment that has been proven effective for nearly 35 years. This conversion also has provided us with a chance to access capital resources that will increase space at the Pamelia residence and improve existing facilities. Construction under this plan is scheduled for 2008 and will allow for more counseling space as well as space for large group meetings, trainings and recreational activities.

Other changes as a result of this conversion include:

§
The age range will be limited to those at least 16 years old and under 21 years old at the time of admission.
(Residents may turn 21 after admission but must be discharged before they turn 22.)
§
Medical services and oversight will now be provided for the most part on site.
§
Increased individual and group counseling sessions.
§
Improved access to community resources for services and discharge purposes.
§
Enhanced vocational planning and services.

We will keep you up to date on the progress as some of the intake procedures may change as well.

Referrals for any non-medicaid eligible or self-pay clients will still be accepted.

This residential program is located approximately 10 miles north of Watertown on a beautiful 115 acre site. We offer a total, holistic rehabilitative environment to young men. The program is individualized to meet each resident’s diverse needs, and offers a variable length of stay, depending on progress in the program and individual circumstances.

The program encourages individuals to develop respect for self and others, and responsibility via a wide variety of therapeutic activities, vocational and educational components, and recreational opportunities.

Components

This environment is a good training ground for recovery because it too requires commitment, self-discipline, patience, and forgiveness. Residents and staff work and play side by side in all aspects of the program.

The program encourages the use of self help groups. The residents learn to examine the impact that addiction has had on their lives, and confront non-productive patterns that have lead to dependence on drugs and alcohol.
